Firm HistoryFounded in 1985 as Sunland Engineering Company, the firm changed its name in 2003 to Sunland Group in order to encompass the growing range of services the company offered. In late 2004, Sunland was purchased by R. Carla Thompson and four of its managing executives as part of a continuing transformation from a primarily civil engineering and survey company to a full-service program and project management and design group. Since its inception, Sunland has provided professional services to both public and private sector clients and delivered professional services to more than 400 major projects with a total construction value of over $8 billion.
