• Our principle projects and mission direction is the use of tabletop gaming, either role playing or board games as a beneficial and therapeutic approach that can teach valuable skills from critical thinking to resilience and social skills. Gaming, specifically Role Playing can be used as a focused and targeted adjunct to therapy helping to deal with emotional material from general anxiety and social skills to trauma.We run educational programs for audiences ranging from parents to professionals on how to gain the most benefit from the gaming hobby. We also run therapeutic groups for groups ranging from children to adults. We are also the organizers of a yearly fund raising event called Save Against Fear. This is a three day gaming convention that we use not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness to our mission of therapeutic gaming. This event was founded in 2010 and is steadily growing. For more info on this event and how you can help, go to www.saveagainstfear.com.The Bodhana Group is also working on several projects to help further our mission, they include: - Development of focused programs that utilize focused board games and role playing games to teach anything from math and reading to social skills. - The development of a rating system for interested parties to use when selecting games to use with children. This rating system focuses on key areas of gaming's benefits. - The writing of a book for parents and youth workers in how to use role playing games specifically to teach valuable skills. - The development of a clinical approach using role playing games as an adjunct therapy. - A community center that can offer community outreach, education as well as therapeutic programs. - The Bodhana Bus which is a mobile game library to be able to take to hospitals, schools, and community centers and events to speak about beneficial gaming.
