- Layton Boulevard West Neighbors, Inc is one of Milwaukee's most successful community development corporations offering distinct and important revitalization strategies for neighbors, businesses and the entire community. LBWN uses a three-pronged approach to comprehensive neighborhood revitalization: Grassroots Leadership Development, Economic Development, and Home Rehabilitation and Ownership. LBWN has established a reputation for cultivating partnerships to accomplish its mission. LBWN is developing leaders from within the neighborhood and mobilizes these leaders and their skills to truly affect change and revitalize the neighborhood. In 2006 the LBWN Neighborhood became one of the Milwaukees first Healthy Neighborhoods, an initiative which was established by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The Healthy Neighborhood Initiative is a strategy in which neighbors and business owners work together to emphasize the neighborhoods strengths and amenities. These strategies put neighbors and business owners at the forefront of improving the neighborhoods physical conditions, creating a positive image, positioning the housing market, and managing the neighborhoods behavior. As a result, more people make social and physical investments and proactively market their neighborhood to potential business and homeowners who will do the same. The Layton Boulevard West feature neighborhood consists of three individual neighborhoods: Silver City, Burnham Park, and Layton Park. The neighborhood boasts turn-of-the-century homes with German craftsmanship and unique architectural detail. Rare Frank Lloyd Wright experimental homes are located in the heart of the Burnham Park neighborhood. Nearby, the Menomonee Valley, which has played a vital role in Milwaukees industrial history, is experiencing redevelopment with recreational amenities including the Hank Aaron State Trail, the restored Menomonee River, soccer fields, and a public park.
