• The Greater Waukegan Development Coalition (GWDC) fosters the development of business and real estate within economically challenged communities. We are an independent, 501(c) 3, not-for-profit, supporting, creating, and championing opportunities that enhance the quality of life throughout the Greater Waukegan Area. Our Vision The downtown core and lakefront areas will become the destination in Lake County for waterfront recreation and entertainment serving as a magnet to attract business and fuel revitalization. Our Strategy Bend traffic to the region through a concerted mix of programs supporting business innovation, stimulating real estate development, and encouraging recreational opportunities to change the perception of the area. Our Goals 1) Support the growth of business to create economic opportunities, jobs, and a culture of entrepreneurship. Provide mentorship and resources to aspiring entrepreneurs, which supports the development and growth of local business. 2) Catalyze resurgence in the local real estate market by initiating redevelopment and infill projects within the downtown core and lakefront areas. Encourage real estate development projects within the Downtown Core and lakefront areas by initiating, supporting, and partnering with public and private groups to demonstrate viability and opportunity. 3) Attract people to the downtown core and lakefront areas by offering engaging programming, which complements and takes advantage of the natural amenities and current event schedules. Identify existing catalog of events occurring within the targeted area and develop complementary activities to enhance the experience and attract a broader audience.
