• ASPEC at Eckerd College is a member-led, lifelong learning organization. ASPEC's purpose is to provide a structure for its members to expand on their lives of accomplishment through further intellectual growth and engagement with each other, through intergenerational learning, interaction and other contributions to the College, and through service to the broader community.A unique community for lifelong learning. ASPEC is founded on the principle that it is important for adults to remain involved and active. Our 275+ members, whether in transition from one career to another or retired, are most challenged when they share a community of interests with others who believe that every stage of life can be a time of rejuvenation, enrichment, accomplishment and meaningful productivity.ASPEC offers opportunities for intellectual stimulation, intergenerational learning with Eckerd College, community service and an active social life. We have more than 40 Interest Groups that offer opportunities for mental and physical stimulation, plus exploration and relaxation, with topics in the arts, politics, science and philosophy, and computers. Also included are activities ranging from boat building to Tai Chi.
