• WHO WE AREThe NYC Coalition for a Smoke-Free City is a health advocacy group that works with the five boroughs to increase awareness of tobacco control issues among community members and policy makers. Partnering with the community, legislators, and health advocates, we support neighborhood-based efforts for effective and long term change throughout NYC. We are funded through grants from the Department of Health and Human Services and the New York State Department of Health. We have a Borough Smoke-Free Partnership located in each of the five boroughs. WHAT WE DO-Reduce youth exposure to tobacco marketing.-Increase the number of smoke-free outdoor spaces.-Increase the number of apartment buildings, co-ops and condos that are 100% smoke-free.-Engage community partners to build support for policy campaigns. WHAT WE BELIEVEWe believe that every NYC resident has the right to breathe clean, smoke-free air where they live, work and play. We believe that it is unacceptable for NYC youth to be lured into a life of tobacco addiction. We believe that every smoker deserves the support and resources to quit.
