• Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary is a 501c3 non-profit organization that assists county humane societies, sheriff's departments, police, and other law enforcement officials with abuse, negelect and abandonment cases of farm animals and horses. Happy Trails role is to provide transportation, vet care, rehabilitation programs, and adoption programs. We also assist with the prosecution of the owners or caretakers by testifyling in court and providing documentation of the animal's condition and progress through photographs, medical reports, and information about their care. Happy Trails services do need to be requested by a humane officer or other law enforcement official, and we do require that if we are involved in a case that the person responsible does have animal cruelty charged filed against them. Happy Trails also offer outreach programs, such as the Farm Animal Visitation Program where we take rescued farm animals into nursing homes to visit the elderly; our educational programs where rescued animals are taken to schools and special interest groups to teach kindness and compassion for all animals; and our Amish Horse Retirement Program where we accept buggy and plow horses who can no longer serve their families and otherwise would have been sent to the local slaughter auction andpurchased by meat buyers. Happy Trails operates on 9 acres and is located in Ravenna (Portage County), Ohio. We offer personal tours on Sundays from May through October. 330-296-5914.
