• EqualHealth is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Haitian doctors and nurses with the education and training they need to take the best possible care of their patients. Since our founding in 2010, hundreds of Haitian health professionals have participated in our programs, which range from leadership training programs to Haiti's largest annual medical education conference. We are confident that many in Haiti are receiving improved medical care as a result. Despite the robust global humanitarian response that followed its 2010 earthquake, Haitis major health indicators remain among the worlds worst (World Health Organization, 2012). The aid of the international medical community could only provide a temporary fix to a long-term problem. Little was being done to offer a long-term sustainable solution to improving the quantity and quality of care available to the Haitian people. Since our founding, EqualHealth has been taking a different approach, offering a sustainable solution to Haitis critical healthcare needs by strengthening its healthcare workforce. EqualHealth offers an innovative array of medical education and professional development tools that are tailored to the needs of Haitian health professionals. Our programming, offered for free, provides improved access to medical education for Haitian healthcare workers. This increased access to education is a critical step to improving health outcomes and preventing unnecessary illness and death among the Haitian population.
