• Laughing Buddha Comedy takes comics from their very first open mic or class, and prepares them for a career in stand up comedy. LBC is the only major comedy school in NYC owned by a professional working comedian. Students receive quality stage time as well as enrollment in highly supportive classes usually limited to 10 to 12 students. You can ONLY learn stand up comedy by performing in front of real audiences and Laughing Buddha Comedy is the largest producer of stand up comedy shows and open mics in NYC, with over 75 a month. Classes include Stand Up Comedy, Hosting and Crowd Work, Self Promotion and Marketing, Writing, Storytelling, and Improv. Private coaching is available via Skype for those that reside out of town or can't adhere to a set schedule. You can even personalize your own program; LBC has helped aspiring comics all over the world. Comics who excel can be booked for paid gigs, road work, television, voice overs, commercials and private events.HistoryLaughing Buddha Comedy (LBC) was founded by stand up comedian Jeff Lawrence in 2009. Known as a community of comics, with over 4,000 members, Recently branded a big name talent with connections by the NY Times, he is also the new talent coordinator in NYC for Catch a Rising Star, and the leading producer of new talent shows at the Stand Comedy Club in NYC. He has working relationships with the top networks, bookers, casting directors, and agencies in comedy. He has opened for Gilbert Gottfried, appeared on MTV Europe, as well as The Grammy Awards, and has been heard on radio stations across the U.S.Jeff, as an instructor, has been featured on the front pages of The Wall St. Journal and the Tampa Bay Times. Everyday Magazine with Rachael Ray even branded the school Outlandishly COOL.
