- EVkids empowers youth from Bostons inner city with the skills and confidence to succeed in school and life. Our EV Tutoring program matches low-income, academically vulnerable 4th12th graders one-on-one with a trained and highly motivated corps of college volunteers who serve as tutors and mentors and typically stay with the same student for multiple years. The tutor-tutee pairs are closely supported by professional staff who manage family engagement and provide school advocacy, including creating individual development plans for each tutee in consultation with their teachers. Since 2007, 100% of our high school seniors have gone on to college. In SY2015-16, 65 tutor-tutee pairs met weekly after school at two program sites in Dorchester. On average, 90% of non-graduating kids and 87% of non-graduating volunteer tutors return from the prior year.
