• Journeys in Film has been a leading force in global education for over a decade by harnessing the power of film in ways that dramatically improve teaching and learning outcomes. We combine carefully chosen feature films and documentaries with the highest quality standards-based curricula and train teachers on how to effectively teach with film through professional development workshops and online classes. Our programs engage students in meaningful examinations of human rights, poverty and hunger, stereotyping, environmental issues, global health, refugee issues, and gender roles, all while meeting today's educational standards. Journeys in Film is working in partnership with USCs Rossier School of Education to expand programs and establish The Center for Teaching with Film. By establishing The Center at a prominent and Global University, we will have the opportunity to bring together scholars and researchers with knowledge and expertise about education, media, and communication to build the first department of its kind in the practice and research of using film and media to teach across all disciplines, and measure the social qualitative effect with quantitative measures. When fully realized, The Center will focus on four areas of program expansion: Preparation of Pre-service Teachers; Curriculum Development; Research and Evaluation; Dissemination / Scaling Up / More K-12 classrooms. We are committed to establishing ourselves as the premier resource for teachers seeking to use film and media as teaching tools.
