Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre

Description

• The company was founded in 1999 by a trio of artists: Joe Cerqua, composer and musician; Wilfredo Rivera, choreographer and dancer; and muralist Matt Lamb. In its early years, CRDT focused on developing new work driven by the founders and was housed in Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. The company expanded with a growing family of artists and programming including concerts, art showings, and outreach programs. In recent years, CRDT saw a maturation and some significant growth as it approached its 15th Anniversary (2014). The dancer corps evolved as talented new artists joined the organization. The company evolved from culture-specific programming to Concert Series that inspire cross-cultural exchange and appreciation. In 2015 CRDT evolved again in pursuit of its mission, launching a new effort called CRDT Inside/Out. In this project CRDT's Dance and Music Ensembles created new art March - September 2015, sharing the work in progress in free and low cost community performances and online through social media. Audiences werw invited to choose from a menu: to get to know the company and its art from many angles, to simply enjoy a single event or follow the work online, or take part at any level in between. Inside/Out will culminated in a two-weekend, two-location Fall Concert Series in October. We are now gearing up for a bigger and bolder Inside/Out 2016!http://cerquarivera.org/
