- Inyenyeri is a fuel utility company, dedicated to reversing the national wood deficit and eliminating death and disease caused by household air pollution in Rwanda. In the Inyenyeri Fuel+Stove System, our customers sign a contract in which they are provided with the world's cleanest solid biomass stove, and the training to use it, under a cheap lease. It has an adjustable, hot, smokeless and fast-cooking flame. In exchange, customers agree to use our fuel pellets. Our pellets are made from biomass that we crowdsource from our rural customers who currently collect their firewood for free. They trade this biomass for enough fuel pellets to meet all their cooking needs, making our system a cash-free option for the poorest households. Pellets are so efficient that one rural household brings enough biomass to supply five urban households who purchase the pellets in our stores for the same price or less than charcoal. Pellets consume 80% less wood and the stove has 98% less toxic emissions. Best of all, our customers love the way our system transforms cooking.
