- World Cyber Games (WCG), a Samsung company, is the organizer of the largest and longest running international video game tournaments -- with over 1.5 million players from 65 countries each year. World Cyber Games championships are often referred to as the Olympics of video gaming and hold the Guiness record for competitive video gaming (or eSports) participants. WCG celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2010, with the world championship in Los Angeles, while prior championships were held in China (2009) and Germany (2008). Expanding upon its expertise in competitive video games, WCG created the first ever video game reality show for television WCG Ultimate Gamer. In late 2010, World Cyber Games and Samsung launched the 2nd season of WCG Ultimate Gamer on Syfy network where 12 contestants lived in a house together, competing in video game and real world challenges to crown the best of the best for video games.In early 2011, World Cyber Games closed its U.S. office and has now consolidated its business in the South Korean headquarters.
