• panOpticon is an online Information System (IMS) that enables researchers to collect, process, manage and share the varieties of data needed to valuate a work of fine art in the marketplace and to maintain an artists legacy.It also means that verifiably accurate, up-to-date research and scholarship can be published in print or online in the form of a catalogue raisonné it can be used to create teaching tools and interactive museum displays it can be used in curating exhibitions and much more.Our software follows cataloging best practices as recommended by leading members of the Catalogue Raisonné Scholars Association we refer to the Visual Resources Association guidelines for describing cultural works and images we use The Chicago Manual of Style as a guide in formatting texts.And we continuously work with professionals in the industry to improve and update our product features and protocols.One of our challenges is to create a complex online reference that can cover the many aspects of Lichtensteins work. It was sometimes rather difficult to establish a clear and integrated architecture, but with the help of our panOpticon database we are making great progress. Roy Lichtenstein Catalogue Raisonné ProjectOur System is used by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, the Estate of Arthur Dove, the Walter De Maria Collection and Archives, the National Gallery of Australia, the Edwin Dickinson Estate, the Sam Francis Foundation, the Arshile Gorky Foundation, the Estate of David Smith, The Moholy-Nagy Foundation, the Estate of Jack Tworkov, and the Paul Cézanne, Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, and George Inness catalogue raisonné projects, among others. Our most recent online catalogue, 'Fitz Henry Lane: An online project under the direction of the Cape Ann Museum' (www.fitzhenrylaneonline.org), was launched in November 2016 to great fanfare.
