• We are ObviPop LLC -- derived from the Latin phrase Obviam Populo, which means Meet People. Social Media was originally intended to bring dispersed people together. It seems people have begun using Social Media as a crutch rather than a tool. Our mobile application is at the forefront of a progressive movement called Online-to-Offline (O2O). In contrast to the Offline-to-Online societal movement, Online-to-Offline aims to encourage online users to embark in offline activities by using online technologies. The online-to-offline movement does not do away with the advantages of online technology, rather it harnesses online technological advantages to enhance offline activities. Online-to-Offline is not a move backwards, away from digital technology, but is a move forward with digital technology. There is a potential problem in society pertaining to people becoming too absorbed and reliant on technology. Our app allows people to use digital technology to connect with each other offline. There is a digital divide occurring between people only feet away from one another. Next door neighbors are less 'neighborly'. Most people feel it necessary to screen their phone calls and texts just because they have the ability to do so; Social media and smartphones have built a wall between people offline. When a person is so drastically absorbed and reliant in their digital device, they will not/can not function outside of it. We feel that the human race must preserve genuine societal face-to-face interaction. A major aim of ObviPop, our creation, is to Resolve the Digital Divide. We want to combat the socially sedentary lifestyle that people have adapted due to social media. Our progressive cooperation-oriented communication mobile application aims to proactively incentivize face-to-face interaction with our revolutionary Group Check-in feature.
