Wild Root Market is a for-proft, tax paying Wisconsin business, 100% member owned. Wild Root Market has secured a location with contingencies, with a contract in place to purchase the property at 500 Walton Avenue in Racine. The co-op will provide 40 living-wage jobs and will generate up to $7 million in the local economy. Wild Root Market will enhance the quality of life in Racine by providing an amenity that people are accustomed to finding in a community this size, adding to the unique retail landscape in Racine. Because it is cooperatively owned by members of the community, it will be locally owned forever.The highly successful Outpost Natural Foods in Milwaukee, now with 4 stores in the metro-Milwaukee area, is one of our models as well as a mentor. Nationally, co-ops are the fastest growing segment of the grocery industry. Cooperatives run according to a set of 7 Operating Principles. We currently have nearly 900 member-owners.
