• Dissimilar Metal Design (DMD) is an architectural metals company based in Silverdale, WA founded by our Principal Mark Quinlan. Our roots trace back over 30 years with the creation and selling of bespoke metal furniture and sculpture commissioning for noteworthy private collectors.Armed with a passion for the aesthetic and tactile feel of patinas, Quinlan realized there was no great source of information on effectively creating sustainable oxidized surfaces on metals. This challenge led to 3 decades of exploratory science and art, which has solidified DMD as an innovator in the weatherization techniques of metals such as steel, copper, bronze, aluminum, stainless, and zinc.Fueled by demand surge in Korea and Northern Europe, our weatherization team has expanded its operations with a new metal weatherization factory in 2006.Today, DMD has grown its business of creating and distributing architectural panels worldwide. We specialize in the creation of custom built decorative metal works used on some of the worlds most recognized structures. We have produced and consulted on exteriors for notable structures including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Leeum Museum of Fine Art in Seoul, and the recently completed Chevron Campus in Midland, Texas.
