- Hancock Center offers dance/movement therapy, health and wellness sessions, and verbal forms of therapy. Dance/movement therapy is an innovative form of psychotherapy that uses expressive movement to help people learn more about themselves and their relationships with others. Licensed dance/movement therapists help their clients develop a healthy self-image, communication skills, and emotional stability.On-site programming includes individual, group, and family dance/movement therapy sessions, self-care groups, Empowerment groups for women, creative dance, and Alexander Technique. Our therapists also coordinate a Violence Prevention and Pro-Social Skills program in Madison area schools and facilitated therapy groups for children who have experienced trauma. Rena Kornblum's research-based book, manual, and training DVD, Disarming the Playground is widely used as a vital part of movement-based violence prevention curriculum around the country. Hancock Center therapists are available for workshops and trainings. Therapists have participated in statewide, national, and international outreach and trainings.
