• Veterans share a common bond that will connect us for the rest of our lives. To help us stay connected, the Lone Star Veterans Association has been established as the supporting resource for the growing veteran population and their families in the State of Texas.LSVA was originally created as the OEF/OIF Subcommittee of the City of Houston Military Affairs Committee, which has been the umbrella organization for all military and veteran service organizations in the Greater Houston Area since 1931. Since the collaboration of City of Houston Mayor Bill White and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett to create the Returning Veterans Initiative , Houston has brought national attention to the issues of transitioning veterans and became one of the best cities for our veteran men and women to live, work and raise a family upon leaving the Armed Forces.Since its inception in the spring of 2009, the Lone Star Veterans Association has become the driving force for the Returning Veterans Initiative and today works closely with other governmental and private Veteran Service Organizations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, the State of Texas, City of Houston, Wounded Warrior Project, Texas Veterans Commission, United Way and more to develop these ongoing programs to further assist our local veterans and their families throughout their transition.LSVAs mission is to help connect our community of veterans into a united organization of those who have served in the US Armed Services at home or abroad. LSVA will provide an accessible support system and social outlet for the service members transitioning back into civilian life through programs, events and peer mentoring. If you have been out of the service for years or simply a few weeks, we invite you to join us to ensure our efforts succeed as we help our brothers- and sisters-in-arms translate experience and skills from the battlefield into successful civilian lives.
