- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) seeks to improve the quality of life for local Afghans by implementing Cash for Work (CFW) activities in multiple districts in Kandahar and Helmand Provinces through the Cash for Work Support Services subcontract under the Afghanistan Stabilization Initiative (ASI). This project provides assistance in creating large scale short term job opportunities for skilled and unskilled Afghans to infuse much needed income to families who do not have a means of making money and are vulnerable to insurgents and other anti government elements. This assistance is expected to improve the short-term income for many people in southern Afghanistan and this increased income will contribute to improved stability in the affected areas.
