Get Full AccessDescription
- The Cascade Community Foundation was founded in 2001 as a component fund of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Our purpose is to build and strengthen the quality of life for residents in the greater Forest Hills Area, including Cascade, Ada, Forest Hills and Caledonia, both now and in the future. We work through charitable partnerships with area organizations, leadership in community programming and permanent fund building. We identify local needs and concerns, address community problems and help to shape long term responses and solutions. Our mission is to lead and inspire charitable efforts that make our community a great place to live, work and play. Three tenets we adhere to are nurturing neighbors, enhancing places and connecting the community. Nurturing Neighbors: Community Benefit Fund - In the past, grants from this fund have included distribution of free smoke detectors, Red Cross safety classes, partnership with the Mental Health Foundation to provide a Live, Laugh, Love program at Forest Hills Public Schools, and more. Future ideas in this area include senior programming and health screenings. Enhancing Places: Community Enhancement Fund - Grants from this fund have provided enhanced ball fields at the Cascade Recreation Park, a wind turbine at the Cascade Library, and the Cascade musuem decorated for the holidays. Since the Community Enhancement Fund was created in 2009 more than $20,000 has been granted back to the community in this area. This fund is currently assisting in enhancing the viewing area for the County Airport. Connecting Community: Community Entertainment Fund - In the past, grants from this fund have brought you the Cascade the River Beat Series, anniversary memorials of 9/11, the Metro Cruise Warm Up and much more. Since the fund was created in 2006 over $40,000 has been granted back to help connect community members.
