• Based in San Jose, CA, The Choral Project is a mixed-voice choir founded in 1996. Led by founding director Daniel Hughes, the 45+ member chorus met with early successes marked by performances for the American Choral Directors Association, the California Music Educators Association, the National Association of Composers of the USA, and a performance by invitation to represent California at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., as part of the California State Day Celebration. At the heart of its mission, To connect to one another through choral theater, education and musical excellence, The Choral Project aims to educate young singers and expand awareness and appreciation of choral arts. To achieve this goal, The Choral Project is involved in community outreach, including a choral mentorship program for local high school students, joint performances with visiting choirs, and an annual Choral Composition Contest for high school students and undergraduates.The Choral Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization and annually serves an audience of approximately 4,000 and is led by a volunteer board of directors, Artistic Director - Daniel Hughes, and Co-Executive Directors - W. Harold Laster and Nancy Loshkajian, who in turn are supported by over 30 volunteers and a small paid staff team. The Choral Project is grateful to receive the support from Arts Council Silicon Valley and presenting sponsor, First Republic Bank.
