Description

• Project 440 is designed to encourage, educate, and empower communities through the unifying power of music. Focused on service, our organization seeks to establish music as a central tool for education, leadership, and community building. Project 440 partners with the Curtis Institute of Music in presenting the Community Artists Program. Currently in its second year, the credited course is a guided independent study where participating students are matched with mentors drawn from Curtiss faculty, staff, and alumni who will help students to design and implement a performance project that combines artistry with invention, leadership with advocacy, and citizenship with community. Keeping in line with Project 440s mission to create community through music, the High School Seminar teaches young musicians to use their own musical gifts to enhance the lives of others. Courses presented are: Colleges and the Audition Process, Entrepreneurship & Networking, and Community Engagement & Interactive Performance. Our Young Musicians Survival Kit, distributed to students who participate is designed to provide pre-college students with the relevant tools and information necessary for a career in music in the 21st century. Since 2008, the Live Oak Public Library of Savannah, GA has hosted Project 440 programs aimed to engage the community through music. This series, MusicAlive!, has performed in all of the 18 library branches for thousands of children and parents.
