• The cornerstone of the Warwick Investment Club is to share our knowledge and enthusiasm about financial markets, applicable to those interested in Sales, Trading, Research or Structuring. A major success has been our seminar series on how to trade; in collaboration with the Market Wrap Up team, we delivered a crash course in trading to an average audience of 100+. Speakers included incoming interns at Man Group, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Barclays, UBS, Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley.We also ran several one-on-one interview clinics, where advice and support were given to prospective applicants in rigorous and authentic interviews. Not only has this been an extremely rewarding venture, for interviewers and interviewees alike, these sessions enhanced the applicants confidence and experience ahead of their interviews, as well as building relationships among like-minded students across year groups.One of this years flagship projects has been the establishment of our inaugural Investment Fund. Comprising four teams spanning all main asset classes, we have seized the opportunity to practise on real-time markets (currently virtual) and facilitate a skills transfer between older and younger years through mentoring and open seminars discussing our trade rationale. Weve met with early success, in particular from the Commodities and FX teams.We also organised two dynamic trading simulations to complement the experience gained through the Investment Fund. With use of the same training software as industry professionals in the City, both events were instructive and well-received, with 50 and 70+ participants.Socially the society has gone from strength to strength. Through informal Friday sessions at Terrace Bar, and the limitless banter supply from resident gossip officer Akash Garg, were all happily up to date with each others news. In the words of one of our Freshers: Were not only colleagues, but also friends!
