• The Waterways Journal, Inc. (WJ) was founded in 1887 to serve the print media needs of steamboat captains and marine professionals along the inland rivers of the United States. Though we have expanded to serve additional markets in subsequent years, we are still as proud as ever to be serving the inland marine transportation industry and are dedicated to its success. In 1989, the WJ purchased Quimbys Cruising Guide, an annual guide for recreational boating on the Mississippi and its many tributaries. A few years later, in 1998, it acquired HeartLand Boating magazine, a magazine and website. Together these two titles target the WJs only consumer market: recreational boating. In 2009, the WJ bought International Dredging Review (IDR), a trade magazine devoted to dredging and marine engineering primarily in North America but with significant coverage of Latin America and overseas. Focused on expanding to additional markets with business-to-business products, the WJ purchased Marina Dock Age in 2012. The well-known trade magazine serves the needs of marina and waterfront facility owners in the U.S.
