    Description

    • Penta Group Vietnam is a non-profit that aims to address the issue of limb disability in developing countries such as Vietnam. According to the World Health Organization, disabled persons account for 15.3% of the Vietnams population, and out of that 29.4% are mobility related. A 2006 report states that over a quarter million disabled people are in need of prosthetics. In addition, disabled children receive little to no education, and disabled adults are three times as likely to be unemployed than persons without disabilities. Penta aims to challenge the conversation around disability through two-pronged approach. First, we sponsor prosthetics for low income individuals. Second, we organize educational volunteer trips for youth. In July 2016, we launched our pilot program in Vietnam, fitted 11 prosthetics and hosted a 10 day volunteer trip with 21 students.
