• We are a collective of young individuals currently based in the UK with a deep passion for Africa; especially the new and exciting technology focused start-ups developing in the continent.GoGetters is a social initiative and our mission is to be the bridge between Westerners (especially Africans from diaspora) and the business opportunities within sub-Saharan Africa. We recently launched our pilot project, which will see 7 UK participants from September 2013 to March 2014, travel to South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone (sub-Saharan Africa) to establish business networks, integrate themselves with the local culture and conduct market research.The GoGetters hypothesis is that people from the West (especially from the African diaspora) are enthusiastic in starting a business in sub-Saharan Africa, but negative perceptions, lack of knowledge and networks, act as barriers.75% of the participants who are coming on the pilot have previous knowledge and experience of sub-Saharan Africa. During the pilot we will test the hypothesis, learn about business opportunities and look at innovative ways technology can revolutionise the sub-Saharan African business sector.
