• ART International Training and Research, Inc. provides innovative research, education, and training for licensed mental health practitioners in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Our organization strives to increase services to individuals throughout the country who suffer from severe psychological disorders, such as PTSD, who go untreated or are receiving ineffective methods of treatment. ART has been successful in treating afflicted individuals by modifying the way distressing memories and negative images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions and establish a positive change for adverse psychological conditions. Developed in 2008, ART is a brief, exposure-based psychotherapy aimed at treating psychological disorders including: psychological trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sexual abuse, and substance use. ART is an emerging psychotherapy reinforced with a foundation based on existing evidence-based therapeutic techniques that is designed to foster rapid recovery of traumas and difficult life experiences so that such experiences no longer trigger strong emotions or physical reactions (usually within 1-5 sessions occurring over a 2-week period, on average). ART works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, reducing physical and emotional reactions to distressing memories stored in the brain. The treatment program incorporates specific visualization techniques enhanced through the use of rapid eye movements, similar to the rapid eye movement stage of sleep (REM) and Voluntary Memory and Image Replacement.
