- Rebuilding Together North Jersey provides critical home repairs and home modifications at no cost to the recipients of our services thanks to the generous donations of our supporters, volunteers, and corporate sponsors. Together we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities.Founded as an initiative of The Junior League of Bergen County in 1998 (and formerly called Rebuilding Together Bergen County), we have worked on more than 500 local homes in 45 towns with thousands of volunteers. Our vision is a safe and healthy home for every person.Programs include:National Rebuilding Day: an annual event on the last Saturday in April when we assist low-income seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and families with children at risk by making critical repairs for health, safety, energy-efficiency, and accessibility. Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Education: installation of 10-year lithium-battery smoke- and carbon monoxide detectors for low-income seniorsRamps: installation of transition ramps for those who have disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to use exterior stairsCommunity Revitalization: Repairing and improving community buildings and nonprofit facilities; doing block builds and neighborhood clean-up; building or upgrading community gardens and neighborhood playgrounds.
