- Cana Family Institute (CFI) is a nonprofit conglomerate created in 2012 as the parent company of Familia. CFI is based in Minneapolis, MN and headed by nine Board Members, including founders Jeannine Backstrom and Karen Sester, with Jeannine serving as CEO and Karen as Director of Familia. The reorganization of Familia into CFI was completed in April, 2012. CFI's portfolio of nonprofit organizations will soon encompass several social initiatives, all of which seek to evangelize the dignity of marriage and family.
