- True Friends is a non-profit organization formed in November 2012 between two legacy camp providers, Courage Center Camps of Golden Valley and Friendship Ventures of Annandale. We envision a world where experiences and adventures are open to individuals of all abilities. Our mission is to provide life-changing experiences that enhance independence and self-esteem for children and adults with disabilities.Combining strengths, methods and assets, True Friends camps comprise Minnesotas largest and most comprehensive special needs camp provider. The organization serves nearly 4,000 individuals annually. Our camp include Camp Courage in Maple Lake, Camp Friendship in Annandale, Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie, Camp Courage North near Lake George and Camp New Hope near McGregor. Campers with mild to severe conditions and disabilities benefit from more than 100 camp sessions offered through True Friends. Programs are offered throughout the year and include summer and winter camps, day camps, wilderness trips, therapy riding and diagnosis-specific sessions. New ADHD/ADD sessions, Saturday-only camps and family camps are among the new 2014 additions. True Friends also offers respite and travel programs. Respite services are provided 39 weekends a year. This program offers 1:1 care for children and adults with disabilities, allowing families a reprieve from 24/7 care giving. Ventures Travel provides trip planning and group tours for individuals needing assistance.
