    • At Lion Tennis our goal is to build the FUNdamental skills of coordination, hitting technique and sportsmanship in a supportive environment. Our specially designed curricula use positive reinforcement and a low student-teacher ratio while having tons of fun! In a city with a scarcity of open courts, Lion Tennis provides an outlet for New York City children to access tennis at multiple convenient locations. We bring the game to you! Lawrence Yasner is the founder and head coach. He has taught elementary school physical education in Park Slope, Brooklyn for a decade, serving over 4,000 children. Traveling to Staten Island to coach the Berkeley Carroll high school varsity team, Lawrence saw firsthand the dearth of tennis spaces in Brooklyn. Seeing a need for places to play and having a passion for the game inspired Coach Yas to form Lion Tennis. Member, United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) and USPTA Our coaches are physical education teachers, collegiate players and early childhood educators. They hold advanced degrees in Child Development, Elementary Education, and are fully vetted with background checks.
