- [ Background Story ]The original idea for WHILL was to help a friend overcome his fear and inability to shop at a nearby store, all because his wheelchair lacked the ability to function on outdoor terrain.Determined to overcome this obstacle, the founders designed a new category of personal electric vehicles for those who have trouble walking or are unable to walk. Given the founders extensive backgrounds in the automotive and consumer industries, WHILL products provide an exhilarating, advanced driving experience that is safe and stable across all terrains.[ What We Do] WHILLs mission is to transform todays antiquated wheelchair and scooter experiences into a liberating one using a new kind of empowering device, an intelligent personal electric vehicle (EV). WHILLs mission is to push the boundaries of personal transportation by reinventing the personal mobility industry. To meet this end, the team has designed approachable and aesthetically pleasing electric vehicles that boost driver confidence and enable an active lifestyle.[ Go To Market ]Since its inception three years ago, WHILL has rapidly grown product sales in Japan through B2B partnerships. Our distinctive product design has won several prestigious awards, which have therefore garnered significant brand recognition worldwide. We began selling our first personal electric vehicle for seniors, the Model A, in the U.S. through local resellers and distributors in 2015.
