- Mission Statement: OAR, a community-based restorative justice organization, blends compassion and accountability to assist offenders in leading productive and responsible lives, to the benefit of all. In Fiscal Year 2016, OAR served 2,421 individuals. This includes 500 individuals who were served pre-release, while they are incarcerated in local detention centers, with services such as case management and life skills courses. This also includes 454 individuals who were served post-release, after incarceration, with services such as case management, employment advising, emergency services, and intensive reentry coaching. For post-release services, we work with individuals who are returning to live in Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church. Additionally, OAR oversaw 2,421 individuals in the Community Service Program for court-mandated individuals needing to complete community service hours through the Arlington County and City of Falls Church courts.In 2015, OAR was honored as Nonprofit of the Year by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce at the Best Business Awards. In 2016, OAR was honored with the Nonprofit Award by the Leadership Center for Excellence. Additionally, OAR is featured in the Catalogue for Philanthropy for the 2012-2013 and 2016-2017 editions as One of the Best nonprofits in the DC metro area.
