- the connections model is a new approach to teaching strategies for special education. The connections model is a new, non-traditional approach to assisting students with behavioral difficulties in the classroom. Designed for students with Complex Global Disabilities ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder to Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities, to Attention Deficit Disorder and beyond, we take a holistic approach to teaching them the functional skills they need to be successful in a classroom environment. Reaching deeper than traditional academic and therapeutic supports, we start with basic emotional regulation and teach children how to identify, manage, and channel their feelings appropriately. We believe this is the missing link to their ability to function well in the classroom and beyond.
