• The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California (RIO) was established in 1950 to serve the multi-faceted needs of persons with functional disabilities caused by birth defects, disease, medical conditions or accidents. Located in Orange, Fullerton, and San Clemente, a wide variety of programs are offered, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Many of RIO's programs are also open to people without special needs, including the Aquatics Services program, the Sandpiper Swim School, and the Early Learning Center. Mission: RIO attains its goal of improving the quality of life of disabled persons by providing comprehensive, coordinated programs which increase the ability of disabled individuals to function at home and at school, on the job, and in the community.
