- Emil van Essen, LLC is a Chicago-based CTA that specializes in real alpha commodity strategies that have a low to negative correlation with other CTA's and commodity funds. EvE launched its flagship Spread Trading Program (STP) in 2006 during the rapid growth of long-only commodity funds. The Emil van Essen Long-Short Commodity Program (LSCP) was launched in June 2013 and is a systematic program that primarily utilizes term structure data to trade outright commodities. The Emil van Essen Multi-Strategy Program (MSP) was launched May 2014 and is an approximate 50/50 combination of the STP and LSCP. The MSP is designed to generate returns that have a low to negative correlation to most CTA and commodity programs.
