- It is our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child battling a life-threatening illness in Hawaii. Our program is 100% privately funded, and all donations stay in Hawaii to support local wish-granting efforts. While we are headquartered in Honolulu, we operate statewide with the help of volunteers and trained wish granters living on all islands. Our Hawaii chapter is among the busiest in the nation with the privilege of granting over 1,100 wishes per year - with Hawaii being one of the most popular wishes requested worldwide. Founded in 1982 to host these visiting wish families, we granted our first wish to a Hawaii child in 1984 and have been dedicated ever since to ensuring Hawaiis own keiki get referred and see their wishes come true. For more than 34 years, we have established the power of a wish come true and know that wishes truly are good medicine. As of 2016, we have helped more than 13,000 children better fight their medical battles with your support.
