• The New Hampshire Lakes Association (NH LAKES) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the mission of which is to protect our 1,000 lakes and their watersheds. We achieve this mission through education and advocacy, with the greatest general threats to water quality being polluted stormwater runoff and aquatic invasive species. The vision of NH LAKES is simple - that future generations will get to enjoy the quality of New Hampshires lakes as we do today.NH LAKES has created this page to introduce ourselves to fellow professionals and companies whose missions may be aligned or whose marketplace of customers or constituents we may have in common. Our funding comes from grants, individual donations, and member dues (from both local lake and watershed associations and individuals), as well as from businesses who wish to invest in our cause and be associated with our good works.NH LAKES implements education programs like the Lake Host Program, in which over 700 people (both paid and volunteers) staff publicly-accessible boat ramps to educate boaters about how they can prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species through inspecting, cleaning, draining, and drying their boat and trailer between launches. NH LAKES also works in the public policy and legislative arena, advocating for lake protection based on sound science and our goal of conserving the many values of our lakes.We recognize that each lake has its own ecological, cultural, utilitarian, and community character so we work with local lake and watershed associations, conservation commissions, municipalities, local businesses, other conservation organizations, and individual stakeholders to ensure that the ecological integrity, economic vitality, and community value of our lakes is maintained.NH LAKES is governed by a volunteer, dedicated Board of Directors and has a professional year-round staff in its Concord, NH office.
