In 1999, J. Schley Rutherford and H. W. Thurber, III purchased Strachan Shipping Agency with the intention of expanding and improving Port Agency services and service areas within the US. In 2002, Norton Lilly International was acquired by Mr. Rutherford and Mr. Thurber, bringing together three of the most well-established and well-respected companies in the ship agency business (Strachan Shipping Agency, Kerr Norton Marine and Norton Lilly International).
