- Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties is a nonprofit organization formed 42 years ago as a senior meal program by proactive civic and community leaders recognizing a growing need for a meal delivery program for homebound senior citizens in Stark County, Ohio. Starting as a catered company serving 435 seniors per day through satellite nutrition sites, the organization grew to include Wayne county and as our communitys needs expanded, so did our agency. Initially a direct service of United Way of Stark County, it became an independent agency in 1991. By 1997, we built an administrative office, complete with commissary and the ability to prepare 5,000 meals per day. Today we provide home delivered meals and medically prescribed supplements to children, families, disabled, elderly, and homebound individuals in addition to congregate dining at 15 locations in two counties. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals in a social or home setting, to assist individuals in remaining healthy, active, and independent of extended care facilities.
