- Refugee Protection International (RPI) is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Boston, USA. RPI co-designs and funds humanitarian aid projects implemented with refugee-led nonprofits in the Middle East. The goal is to cost-effectively strengthen protection and self-reliance among urban refugees and internally displaced persons living near conflict zones, while strengthening grassroots organizations. Ongoing projects enhance access for Syrian refugees to urban housing, documentation and referrals, and emergency protection assistance within Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon. By working with local nonprofits and avoiding the long-term stationing of expatriates overseas, RPI assists donors in reaching more refugees per dollar donated.
