Mygroundstrokes

Description

• Founded in 2019 by elite level teen tennis players and Franklin Regional School District students Anup Nadesan and Joseph Bonfiglio, MY GROUND STROKES (MGS) is a youth outreach initiative established to provide inclusion and community-based tennis instruction. Anup is a rising junior at Franklin Regional while Joseph graduated in 2019 and pursuing his under graduation in Economics at University of Michigan In partnership with Rashid Hassans Elite Tennis Academy (RHETA) and East Suburban Citizen Advocacy (ESCA), MY GROUND STROKES aims to teach tennis to young people who may not have access to formal tennis programs. The program is offered to participants qualified by ESCA at no cost and facilitated by teen volunteers. While Nadesan and Bonfiglio (MGS Founders) will introduce the MY GROUND STROKES program to our community and conduct the initial training sessions, their vision is to maintain continuity in the program even after they graduate from Franklin Regional and move on to pursue higher education. Under the guidance of RHETA, MGS Founders will choose future youth facilitators and volunteers based on characteristics to include proven leadership, passion for inclusion and a team focused mentality, as well as a desire to give back. Moving forward, Nadesan and Bonfiglio will have continued involvement in the program to ensure the ongoing adherence to MY GROUND STROKES values. Participants will receive: 1-hour tennis clinic each week Rackets and balls for training Water and snack at the end of each session Pre-Requisite: Participants must be qualified and registered with ESCA
