• The Salt Lake Society for Human Resource Management (Salt Lake SHRM) is an affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). With more than 550 members, Salt Lake SHRM is the largest chapter in Utah. The purpose of chapters is to provide a local forum for personal and professional development; provide an opportunity to develop leadership, managerial, public speaking and group decision-making skills; provide a local networking arena; and to provide a focus for legislative attention to local, state, and national human resource management issues. Founded in 1946, SHRM is the worlds largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China and India. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria, VA has awarded the Platinum Merit Chapter designation to the Salt Lake Society for Human Resource Management (SLSHRM) for its scope of work in perpetuating and supporting the mission of the organization in 2011. The EXCEL Award is the recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE). SHAPE measures include alignment with SHRMs overall objectives, strategic focus and initiatives as well as promoting the HR profession at the local level.
