- AFTA is a 501(c) 3 corporation founded in 2001 to preserve wildlife and habitats, and promote economic alternatives to development through programs that link conservation efforts to community enterprise -- making local people the beneficiaries and custodians of conservation efforts. AFTA is an all volunteer organization and has no employees. AFTA's flagship program, Art For The Animals, is an education and development program that turns gift giving into wildlife conservation through donation gift packages and thank you premiums of hand-crafted folk art and goods made by local communities. The program:- Educates consumers and raises awareness of endangered species, environmental and sustainable development issues; ·- Raises funds for wildlife and nature conservancy;·- Creates a unique, self-fulfilling, culturally sensitive and potentially broad market for indigenous art and conservation products by offering these items as donor premiums;- Changes consumer behavior turning holiday gift giving into wildlife conservation and support for ecologically sustainable economic systems.
