• The McKenna Recovery Center is an accredited private and confidential outpatient addiction treatment program led by Medical Director Gerald McKenna, M.D, FASAM, DLFAPA, board certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine and a team of highly credentialed therapists and counselors. We include your family in the evaluation and treatment process to help both you, the patient, and the family to establish your path of recovery together.We are able to address patient's psychiatric symptoms such as depression, paranoia, anxiety, along with their addiction. Because addiction often is coupled with psychiatric symptoms, and may be complicated by medical issues, Dr. McKenna's direct patient services is a critical resource for the patients we serve. Together with our clinical team we are able to help you with the multi-faceted problems found in addiction.We help you in 3 facilities on 3 islands:Ke Ala Pono-Kauai was founded in 1989, and is the central administrative headquarters where we provide treatment services for a broad range of patients including an adult track and adolescent track for addiction to Alcohol, and Other Drugs.Ke Ala Pono-Hilo, Hawaii was founded in 2000 with an adolescent program well recognized in the Hilo schools community, but now serving adults for 7 years.The Honolulu Professionals Program was founded in 2004, to serve the needs of the professional community, providing services to doctors, lawyers, pilots, and other professionals. Addiction has no prejudice in whom it affects. Even the most competent, highly educated, highly trained professionals can fall into addiction. In 2011, Ke Ala Pono-Honolulu, was established in light of requests from the referral agencies looking for a private program, this latter program is open to working people and their family.
