• Lifting Up Westchester (LUW) is a 501(c)(3) social services organization whose mission is to restore hope to Westchester Countys men, women and children in need by providing them with food, shelter and support- - and lifting them to greater self-sufficiency with dignity and respect. Formerly known as Grace Church Community Center, the agency was incorporated in 1979 and is one of the largest social services agencies in Westchester County, NY.Each year LUW assists 4,500 men, women and children, serves 100,000 free meals to the hungry and provides 26,000 nights of shelter to the homeless. No hungry or homeless individual is ever turned away. The agency operates the following eight community-based programs:Services for the Homeless and the Hungry: Soup Kitchen Open Arms shelter for homeless men Samaritan House shelter for homeless women Housing Services to prevent homelessness and eviction and also to provide housing for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS or mental illness.Youth Services: Summer Day Camp for homeless and disadvantaged children After-School Mentoring Program for homeless and disadvantaged children College scholarships for first generation college attendeesServices for the Elderly and Disabled: Neighbors Home Care Services, a licensed home care services agency (LHCSA) for the elderly and homebound. Rainbow Outreach- recreational and referral services for developmentally disabled children and adults and their families.
