• The InterSchool Orchestras of New York (ISO) proudly celebrates its 40th year of offering a multi-faceted after-school music education program, committed to providing the finest quality musical ensemble experience for young people in New York City. ISO has received widespread recognition for its work including the 2004 Bank of America Award for Excellence in Orchestra Education and induction into the Channel 13 Community Hall of Fame in 2006. Its alumni today perform in some of the U.S.s greatest orchestras, including Philadelphia, Chicago, and many more.The core of ISO is its orchestra program, consisting of seven graded orchestras, a symphonic band, and chamber music ensembles. These young musicians rise to the challenge and exceed the high musical expectations held forth by their professional conductors and supported by their instrumental coaches. The program is enriched with the participation of special guest coaches and a concerto competition. ISOs orchestras are comprised of nearly 300 students that truly reflect the face of New York City, representing a multitude of ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Students come from all parts of the City, and more than half attend public schools.
