• Sharlot Hall Museum is a huge part of Prescotts local economy, generating about $4 million annually through tourism, employment and special events. Further, it is a vital element of Yavapai Countys educational endeavors and a beautiful and important part of downtown Prescott. Founded in 1928, Sharlot Hall Museum is a cultural icon that is the source of much of the history and knowledge of Arizonas early years. As Sharlot Mabridth Hall herself noted, The past contains knowledge that the future cannot forget. Miss Hall was able to sustain her vision through extreme difficulties -- including the Great Depression and the beginning of a world war. Her vision remains intact today, for present and future generations to benefit from. Today the 3 1/2 acre Museum grounds contain nine buildings for visitors to enjoy: Fort Misery (constructed in 1863-64), the 1864 Governor's Mansion, the 1875 Fremont House, the 1877 Bashford House, a 1930's Ranch House, the 1934-36 Sharlot Hall Building, the 1937 Transportation Building, a 1961 territorial schoolhouse replica, and the Lawler Exhibit Center.In addition to the grounds, the Museum hosts four main festivals each year: The Folks Arts Fair, Prescott Indian Arts Market, the Folk Music Festival and Frontier Christmas. All are mainstays of the Museum's regular events, with numerous programs, lectures, fundraisers and special events also taking place throughout the year.
